PM Modi’s Kaziranga Safari & ‘Statue of Valour’ Unveiling: Assam’s Nature Splendor & Developmental Strides

In a vibrant showcase of India’s rich biodiversity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi ventured into the heart of Assam’s Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve on Saturday. His visit was marked by an enchanting elephant safari in the Mihimukh area of the Central Kohora Range, followed by an exhilarating jeep safari. Accompanied by park director Sonali Ghosh and senior forest officials, the Prime Minister immersed himself in the unparalleled beauty of the UNESCO World Heritage site, home to the majestic one-horned rhinoceros.

PM Modi, sharing his experience on social media, expressed, “This morning I was at the Kaziranga National Park in Assam. Nestled amidst lush greenery, this UNESCO World Heritage site is blessed with diverse flora and fauna.” Encouraging others to explore the scenic landscapes and experience the warmth of Assam’s people, he painted a vivid picture of the natural wonders that Kaziranga beholds.

However, the visit comes with a temporary halt to the usual safari activities. In light of the Prime Minister’s upcoming visit, jeep safaris and elephant rides in the Kaziranga range of Kohora will be suspended from March 7 to 9. A notice from Arun Vignesh, Divisional Forest Officer of Eastern Assam Wildlife Division, clarified the suspension, impacting visitors during the specified dates.

Later in the day, PM Modi is scheduled to unveil the ‘Statue of Valour,’ a towering tribute to the renowned Ahom general Lachit Barphukan, in Jorhat. This grand ceremony will be followed by the inauguration and laying of foundation stones for various central and state projects totaling around ₹18,000 crore in Meleng Meteli Pothar, Jorhat district. A public address by the Prime Minister is also on the agenda, solidifying the significance of this visit.
