Bigg Boss OTT winner Elvish Yadav has confessed to arranging snakes and snake venom at rave parties he organized, according to police sources. Previously denying involvement, the 26-year-old YouTuber revealed during questioning his acquaintance with other accused involved in supplying snake venom last year. Following his arrest in the snake venom case, Yadav now faces charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Yadav, remanded in 14-day judicial custody, also stands accused of incorporating snakes into his video shoots. He initially claimed these snakes were provided by Bollywood singer Fazilpuria. The police had previously arrested five individuals, including four snake charmers, after raiding a banquet hall in Noida. The raid followed a complaint by an NGO member who, after laying a trap, contacted Yadav for snake venom.
The Case Unveiled: Snake Venom at Rave Parties
The case revolves around the alleged use of snake venom as a recreational drug at rave parties in Noida last year. Yadav is accused of orchestrating the procurement of snake venom for these gatherings and utilizing snakes in his video productions. The police uncovered a snake smuggling racket in November after raiding a banquet hall, leading to the arrest of five individuals and the seizure of nine snakes, including cobras and poison.
Forensic investigation revealed the presence of cobra and krait venom in samples seized from the venue. This breakthrough followed a trap laid by an NGO, People For Animals. Yadav’s involvement emerged when the arrested individuals revealed that they supplied snake venom at rave parties allegedly organized by him.
Snake Venom Addiction: A Deadly Menace
Snake venom addiction, an unconventional form of substance abuse, exposes individuals to intoxicating effects induced by neurotoxins present in the venom. This dangerous practice, known as ophidism, poses severe health risks and is life-threatening. Although not a widespread issue in India, it carries unpredictable and potentially fatal consequences, leading to physical and psychological dependence.
While the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act regulates drug-related offenses, Yadav has not been charged under this act due to the absence of drugs at the scene. Nevertheless, his admission to organizing snake venom at rave parties underscores the gravity of the issue, prompting calls for strict legal action and public awareness.
